If you’re a typography nerd like me – or really love architecture, history, color, or fun tour guides – you need to visit The Neon Museum next time you’re in Las Vegas. This place has been on my list for a while now, and we finally got a chance to tour the boneyard a couple weeks ago. It was also my first official vacation with Ryan’s family celebrating his baby brother’s 21st birthday, so we wanted to make it an extra fun trip! I managed to convince the whole crew that an 8:30 AM tour of the neon museum would be an awesome idea, ha. The signs did not disappoint and we all agreed it was so worth the early morning wake-up call.
My only regret: not having my DSLR camera with me. We traveled out to Vegas after a long wedding weekend for my bestie Melanie, so I threw a few things in my suitcase and got myself to the airport super early the next day and I forgot my big girl camera in the rush. Womp.
Buuuuuuut some iPhone photos + a little photoshop brightening can work wonders, right? There were so many signs to capture and lots of them were layered with other signs, so there’s no way to capture all of the magic that is this place in just one photo. This post could easily be 30 photos long, but I chose a few of my favorite images to share below.
Plus, can we talk about these color palettes for a second? I can totally see these beautiful oranges, pinks and gray-blues being perfect for a playful jewelry brand – hello, patterned packaging! And funny story about that bright orangy-red from the second photo – that used to be Lynsey Creative’s logo color when I very first started my business. I’m always afraid to wear it in clothing, but dang does it make my heart happy on stationery.
I hope you typography-architecture-color nerds find this as visually inspiring as I did. Viva Las Vegas, baby!
